The field portal
The phone-sized tech view — My Work, per-job clocks, and everything a mobile service call needs without shop chrome.
The field portal is Meridian shrunk to what a tech needs on a phone: your assigned work, a clock, and the job in front of you. No money screens, no sidebar, no manager dashboards. Mobile-service techs live in it; bay techs use it as a pocket time clock and work list.
Get in and find your work
Open the field portal on your phone. Go to your shop's Meridian address followed by /field and sign in as usual. You land on My Work. You can add the page to your phone's home screen so it opens like an app.
If you're an advisor or manager who wandered in from the shop app, there's a back arrow in the header that returns you to the dashboard — you don't have to sign out to get back. Technicians and drivers don't see it, because the field portal is where their work is.
Read My Work. Your assigned labor lines are grouped by vehicle, each under its unit and order number. A mobile job carries a Mobile tag. Anything with your name on it shows under Inspections below. When there's nothing for you, the screen reads No work assigned.
Tap a vehicle to open the job. The job screen lists each labor line with its Billed and Actual hours, a clock, and a Mark complete button.
Clock on and finish lines
Clock onto a line. On a bay job, tap Clock on; the button turns into a live timer with · Clock off. Clocking onto a new line automatically closes the one you were on — there's only ever one active clock per tech.
On a mobile job, clock your travel. A mobile line starts with Clock on — travel — tap it when you roll and the pill reads · Travelling. When you arrive, tap Arrive — start work: your travel time closes and wrench time starts, showing · On the job. To stop, press and hold Hold to clock off.
Mark lines complete. Tap Mark complete on a finished line — it gets a blue Done badge. Tap Reopen if you jumped the gun. That tells the writer the work is ready to review.
Mobile-service extras
Apply a service kit in one tap. On a mobile job, the One-tap LOF button drops a whole service kit (like an oil change) onto the ticket at once. Use Apply a service kit to pick a different kit.
Add parts from Van stock. The Van stock panel lists what's loaded on your truck with one-tap Add buttons — parts come off the van, not the shop shelf. See Look up parts.
Take payment at the customer's site. If your login allows it, Take payment opens a sheet with the Amount, a Method (Cash, Check, or Card), and a Record payment button, so you can close out on the spot.
What happens behind the scenes
The clock enforces one active session per tech in the background — that's why clocking onto a new line closes the last one, so your hours never double-count. On a mobile job the travel-to-wrench flip splits your time into travel and labor automatically, which is what lets the shop bill and report the two separately. Parts you add from Van stock consume from your truck's inventory, and a payment you take in the field posts straight to the customer's balance. When you're offline the portal keeps showing your work behind an amber banner, but clock actions and saves wait until you reconnect.
Troubleshooting
Your login isn't connected to an employee record yet, so Meridian can't assign work to you. A manager links your account from your employee page — once that's done, My Work fills in.
You've lost signal. The banner reads that changes need a connection to save. Your work list stays visible, but hold off on clocking or saving until you're back online — those actions need the network.
My Work only shows labor lines assigned to you. Ask the writer to set the line's technician to your name on the order, or see Work your orders for how assignment works.
Those are mobile-service features and some are permission-gated. Van stock and the service-kit buttons appear on mobile jobs; Take payment only shows if your login is allowed to take money. A missing button is usually a permission, not a bug — ask a manager.
