Run an inspection

Start a DVI from the order, grade each item, attach photos of what you found, and print the customer report.

Technicians

Run a DVI (digital vehicle inspection) whenever a vehicle comes through — it shows the customer the vehicle's real condition with your findings and photos, and it's where upsell work gets discovered honestly.

Running a digital vehicle inspection

Start the inspection

Open the order and find the Vehicle Inspection panel. Every repair order has one. If no inspection exists yet, the panel says "No inspection started for this order."

Pick a template. The dropdown lists your shop's checklists, with the shop default marked (default). Choose Blank (no template) only when you want to build the item list by hand.

Click Start Inspection. The checklist appears, grouped by category, with every item starting at OK.

Pick the template, then Start Inspection.

Grade the items

Work through each category. Category headers expand and collapse — a small amber dot on a header means something inside is flagged.

Set each item's condition. Use the dropdown on the item: OK, Monitor, Service Soon, Service Now, Safety Hazard, or N/A. Only change items you actually checked — everything you graded saves as you go.

Add a photo where it matters. Tap the camera icon on an item and take or choose a picture. A brake lining shot sells the brake job for you. Hover a thumbnail to remove a bad shot.

Grade each item and back up your findings with photos.

Add anything the template missed. Click Add item, give it a category and a name, and grade it like the rest.

Finish and hand it to the customer

Click Complete. The panel's status changes from In Progress to Completed. If anything was flagged, the header shows a Concerns badge.

Print the report. Click Print in the panel header — the customer-facing report opens with condition badges and signature lines. Tick the Photos checkbox first if you want your pictures included. Your writer sends or hands this to the customer.

Complete the inspection, then print the customer report.

What happens behind the scenes

Findings do work for you. Items graded Service Soon, Service Now, or Safety Hazard feed the vehicle's recommended-work backlog, so a declined brake job resurfaces on the customer's next visit instead of being forgotten. The printed report is the shop's evidence trail — your grades, your photos, and the customer's signature line on one document.
