Clock in and out

Punch the day clock at shift start, clock onto specific jobs while you work, and check your time entries.

Technicians

Punch in when your shift starts, clock onto each job while you wrench on it, and punch out at the end of the day. Meridian keeps two kinds of time, and this page shows you both.

Clocking in and out

The two clocks

  • The day clock tracks your shift — when you arrived and when you left. It lives on your employee page.
  • Job clocks track wrench time on a specific repair order or labor line. You'll find them on the order itself and in the field portal. You only ever have one job clock running at a time — starting a new one stops the old one for you.

Clock in for the day

Open your employee page. Click Employees in the sidebar, then click your own name. The Time Clock card is in the right-hand column.

Link an order if you're heading straight to a job (optional). In the Link to order (optional)… box, type part of an order number or customer name and pick the job from the list. You can skip this — most day punches aren't tied to one order.

Click Clock In. Pick yourself first — the Time Clock starts with nobody selected, on purpose, so a single click can't start someone else's day. The green button then reads Clock In — Your Name, and the card flips to a green Clocked In banner showing your start time and a running timer.

Clock out at the end of your shift. Come back to the same card and click the red Clock Out button. Your hours for the entry are calculated for you.

Clock onto a job

While you work, clock onto the specific labor line so your wrench time lands on the right job.

From your phone, open My Work. In the field portal, each assigned labor line is a card. Tap the Clock on button on the line you're starting. The button turns red and shows a running timer.

On the clock — the button shows your elapsed time.

Or from the shop computer, use Time on Job. On the order page, find the Time on Job panel. Each labor line has a Clock on chip next to its assigned technician. The line's badge changes to On the clock while time is running.

Clock off when you stop. Tap Clock off on your phone, or Off on the shop panel. If you move to another job and clock on there, Meridian closes the first session automatically — no double time.

The Time on Job panel tracks each labor line separately.

Check your time entries

Open your employee page. Click Employees, then your name.

Read the Recent Time Entries table. Every punch is a row with Clock In, Clock Out, Hours, and the Order it was tied to (if any). An entry still running shows Active in green.

What happens behind the scenes

Your day-clock hours feed payroll prep — the YTD Hours figure on your employee page comes straight from these entries. Job clocks do more: each session ties your actual wrench time to a specific labor line, which is how the shop compares actual hours to billed hours, measures productivity, and (in some shops) suggests billed time from the clock. Punching accurately keeps your numbers honest — in both directions.
