Your edition and what's included
What the four editions are, how to see what your shop has, and what to do when Meridian says your plan doesn't include something.
Your shop is on one of four editions, and the edition decides which parts of Meridian are switched on. This page explains how to see what you've got, and — more usefully — how to tell the difference between "this shop didn't buy that" and "your login isn't allowed to do that", which look similar and are fixed in completely different ways.
The four editions
| Edition | Who it's for |
|---|---|
| Shop | Independent heavy-duty repair shops |
| Mobile | Mobile and fleet service operators |
| Parts & Service | Counter and wholesale sales alongside service work |
| Enterprise | Groups, networks and multi-entity operations |
Each edition builds on the one before it in capability, and every edition includes the core of Meridian: service orders, customers and units, scheduling, inspections, payments on a ticket, reporting, the customer portal, and data export. Unlimited users, on every edition.
For what each edition costs and exactly what's in it, talk to us — this manual deliberately doesn't quote prices, because the rate sheet is the place that stays current.
Seeing what your shop has
Go to Settings, then Billing. You'll need to be an owner or a manager.
Read the "What's included in ..." panel. The heading names your edition, and the list under it is generated from the same rules the app enforces — so what it tells you you have is what the app will actually let you do. It isn't a marketing list typed onto the page.
Check for a "not shipped yet" list underneath. Some things are part of your edition but still being built. They're listed separately with a hammer icon and the words not shipped yet, so you know they're coming rather than missing.
"Your plan doesn't include this" vs "your role doesn't have permission"
These are the two different walls you can hit, and telling them apart saves a lot of time.
"Your plan doesn't include this feature." — your shop hasn't got that edition. Nobody at the shop can do it, no matter what their role is. Only changing edition fixes it.
"Your role (…) doesn't have the … permission." — your shop does have it; this particular login doesn't. A colleague with the right role can do it right now, and your owner or manager can grant it to you in a minute.
Meridian always checks permission first. That's on purpose — someone who isn't allowed to do a thing never gets shown a message about buying it.
When it is an edition thing, the message names the edition that includes it, in its short form — so you'll see something like "It's included in the parts-service edition" rather than "Parts & Service". Same edition, just written the way the system stores it.
What's actually edition-gated today
Most of Meridian isn't restricted by edition yet, even where an edition list implies it might be. Right now the features that will genuinely stop and tell you your plan doesn't include them are:
| Feature | Editions that include it |
|---|---|
| Counter sales (POS checkout) | Parts & Service, Enterprise |
| Cash drawers | Parts & Service, Enterprise |
| Cores | Parts & Service, Enterprise |
| Recurring billing | Parts & Service, Enterprise |
| PM contracts | Mobile, Parts & Service, Enterprise |
Everything else in the manual works on every edition today.
One thing worth knowing so it doesn't surprise you: the screens themselves aren't hidden. You can open a screen your edition doesn't cover and it will look normal — the refusal comes when you click the button that does the work. If a screen looks oddly empty and no message appeared, that's usually what's happened; check the table above.
Troubleshooting
Exactly what it says — the plan on your account isn't one Meridian recognizes, so nothing is switched on. This isn't something you can fix from the settings screen. Contact support and we'll put your shop on the right edition.
Most likely your edition doesn't include that feature. The screens aren't hidden by edition — only the actions are refused — so you can get all the way to the button before anything says so. Check the table above, and if it's in the list, changing edition is the fix.
Same cause, quieter symptom. A few screens load their contents in the background, and when the request is refused they just show nothing rather than an error. Dirty Cores is the one that does this most visibly. If your edition doesn't include cores, that empty page is why.
That's a role or permission difference, not an edition one — the edition applies to the whole shop equally. Ask your owner or manager to check your role under Settings, then Users & Access. See users and permissions.
It's limited to owners and managers. The Settings item shows in the sidebar for everyone, but opening it sends you back to the dashboard if you're not one of those two roles.
